Wiener Burgtheater "Erkennt die unsichtbare schnur, die alle mit allen verbindet"
26 January 2017

“Realize the invisible line, that connects everyone with everything“

Act.Now organized together with the Viennese Burgtheater an evening with André Heller and Karin Bergmann, where musicians from Europe, Africa and Asia presented their rich compositions, ensemble members read out of prominent authors’ literary work, who escaped their home countries themselves or grew up in foreign countries and personalities talked about their own emigration and immigration. The event was broadcasted on the Austrian public TV station ORF3.

Over 30 outstanding people – musicians, actresses, authors and poets, … – from about 20 nationalities took part at the event to emphasis what we have in common rather than those things which divided us. Music and art is one but not the only aspect which connects us. However, it is one of the most powerful ways to get in touch with each other. As the newly elected federal president of Austria Van der Bellen – who joint the evening on his inauguration day – remarks, music and art played an important role in his and pro-European campaign. Music – performed by more or less professionals – produced a positive atmosphere which carried his non-partial, cosmopolitan movement.

Asylum seeker in Austria receive just about 40 € “pocket money” a month; even recognized refugees have to get along with little money. Via a crowdfunding-projected on the platform Repsket.net donations were collected to give refugees the opportunity to participate at the magical evening.

Thanks to all donors!
